International Women's day | 8 March | Mohd Amaan

War begins
A man dies; his mother, his wife and his daughter cry,
Why wouldn't you say a father, a husband and a son cry when a woman dies.
They talk about courage, then wait for the dark;
A single woman walking by the road alone caught thier eye,
And they talk about strength and it take 4 or 5 of them to take 1 down;
What a group of clowns!
They talk about freedom; then they snatch  Hijabs and Turbans off their head,
Ministers can wear their saffron in parliament but students need to take their Turbans and Hijabs before entering the school;
Hence this shows our constitution is dead.
Parents are more concerned about if the chapatis made by thier daughters are round instead of thier grades,
Are people really marrying today? Or just taking dowry like it's a little trade.
My neighbours distributed sweets all around when Abdul was born,
But I was waiting and sweets didn't arrive when Allah sent Zoya to their home.

So I hope you liked it. I've tried to put a lot in this poem. If you didn't get something please read it again.

Issues I've discussed is this poem though restricted by the law are still practised. A large number of population still starts to save money from the day a daughter is born, not for her education but for her dowry. Nothing can change if we ourselves don't change. The view point of our generation should be different from the traditional viewpoint. Some people will threat us by saying that we're forgetting the values and  principles and we're leaving behind our cultures. None of the culture is worth following if it doesn't support equality. Even the Prophet worked for female which he married later on. He didn't say that she's a lady so I'm more privellaged than her.

You will change, the world will change.

If you liked what you read please spread the word; I would be more than happy and honoured.

Thank you,
Mohd Amaan <3
